After secondary school, entering college is the next most important thing to do. In the United States there are hundreds of good quality and prestigious schools that you may choose from. However, these colleges and universities have thousands of students to choose from also. So what are your chances in entering the college or university that you have been dreaming of?

Due to the competitive college admissions system of most universities and colleges, you must learn exactly what these schools are looking for in you or in your application. Since they process quite a number of applications, you must know how to stand out in the applications since competition is high.

Among your friends and classmates, there might have been a few ideas and opinions circulating about what it really takes to enter into college. There might be individuals who think that only the test scores are important. But the truth is colleges and universities look for the most deserving students that they think are comprehensive and well rounded.

Unfortunately for future college students each school represents a possible yellow brick road and there’s no Good Witch, Wizard, or pair of ruby slippers to help them determine the ideal college for them. Rather, they have no choice but to rely on their own powers of deduction in order to choose the right school to enroll.

All about the SAT and Passing with Flying Colors
The Scholastic Aptitude or Assessment Test is now known as the SAT Reasoning Test and is an examination that all high school students are required to take in order to get into college. The Educational Testing Service conducts the SAT but it’s the College Board that computes the results of the test.

Start Early and Have a Brighter Future with the Help of Your High School Counselor
As early as first year high school, students can ask help from their high school counselors to chart the future for them and assist them in choosing the best college for their personalities and abilities. One can never plan too early for the future and if you or your child has the foresight to desire preparing for the future now, you can start by scheduling an appointment with his or her high school counselor.
