Simple Regular Exercise: Walking

You may not often find time to pursue sporting activities or maybe you are not a sporty type but fortunately there are some very simple ways of remaining fit which will keep you in top form providing you make them part of your daily schedule.

The very best of these simple exercises is walking. The benefits are huge and it is better than jogging as there is less strain on the joints. This is not about speed walking as you see in the Olympic Games but walking at a speed that suits you, not a stroll either, at a consistent pace for a stretch of time decided on by you. I would say walk for at least half an hour, longer if you can, but even if you have very little time then a fifteen minute, brisk walk each day will still have some effect. Let’s look more closely at the benefits of walking.

Add in an internship or a part-time job and you may find yourself thinking of sleep as a thing of the past. You certainly are not alone in feeling this way. Numerous studies suggest that college students experience the highest level of sleep deprivation of any demographic of people. Far from being just annoyance, sleep deprivation has serious consequences, from impaired performance at school to serious health problems. Although you can’t change how busy you are and how much time you have to sleep, there are things you can do to make your sleep more productive.

Do you drive your car to school? You better buckle up because many of today’s car crashes are caused by sleep depravation. Chances are you’re not getting enough sleep at night. Sleep depravation doesn’t just cause physical symptoms; your brain can be affected as well. This article looks at the connection between sleep and learning.

According to the national sleep foundation 85% of students do not get enough sleep at night. What’s enough sleep? While definitions vary, the average is 8.5 hours of sleep per night according to the foundation. If 85% of your fellow students are suffering from sleep loss, then you can gain a major edge in the classroom just from lying in bed, relaxing, and falling asleep.

Everyday people all over the world don’t get enough sleep. For example, poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation in 2002 showed that approximately 74% of the population has trouble sleeping at some point in their lives. And the root of the problem might simply be our lifestyles.
